During the Civil War, President Lincoln over heard someone remark that he hoped "the Lord was on the Union's side." Lincoln gave a straightforward reply:

"I am not at all concerned about that, for I know that the Lord is always on the side of the right. But it is my constant anxiety and prayer that I and this nation should be on the Lord's side."

As Republicans, we believe it is our duty to represent the conservative principles our country was founded on - small government, lower taxes, a strong national defense, conservative family values and sincere faith in our Creator.

It is our desire to educate the citizens of Van Zandt County concerning the issues that arise in our local, state and federal government. We believe this can be accomplished through monthly meetings, e-mail alerts, letters, telephone calls, candidate recruitment, fundraisers and social gatherings, etc.

The Republican Club of Van Zandt County has a long-standing tradition and encourages every voter to participate and scrutinize our candidates. We hold high principles and strive to offer the voters choice candidates who are strong leaders and seek to serve the public with the highest possible degree of professionalism and integrity. The future of our County demands that each office holder understand what is expected and that they are willing to make the commitments necessary to follow through to provide Van Zandt County with the best possible government for the future.

We encourage the citizens of Van Zandt County to get involved in our social gatherings and exercise their political rights by helping in the process of selecting quality candidates. This is achieved by volunteering their time, their talents and their finances and, above all - by voting.

The right to vote is a precious right that many Americans are taking for granted. Often times a right that isn't exercised or that is taken for granted is a right the citizens lose. Let's all do our duty as citizens and vote!
