donldixon@sbcglobal.netDon Dixon is a veteran law enforcement officer having been a licensed Texas Peace Officer
for 28 years. He holds a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Texas A&M University,
Corpus Christi. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Quantico, Virginia and a
graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police, Boston, Massachusetts. Additionally,
he served as a member of the adjunct faculty of Del Mar Community College, teaching in the
Criminal Justice Department for 10 years. Don enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968.
He was honorably discharged in 1972.
Don began his law enforcement career in 1975 when he joined the Corpus Christi Police
Department. He advanced through the ranks to Commander. As a top-level supervisor he
commanded every line division within the Department. Due to his variety of training
and skills he served as SWAT Commander, Bomb Squad Supervisor, Hostage Negotiator, and
Search and Rescue Scuba Diver. Commanding the department's largest division for 6
years, he administered a budget of 15 million dollars and supervised over 300 sworn
law enforcement officers.
Don, age 53, is a native of Lahoma, Oklahoma. He was born and raised on a farm,
growing up in a rural area. He and his wife, Leslie, have made a home in Edgewood
since 1993. He has two children, Ashley, age 18 and Austin, age 15.
