Paul Nicklas is native to the area, being born and raised in our neighboring Kaufman County, moved to Van Zandt County three years ago with his wife, Sheila, and their daughter, Ashley, who was attending college. He also has a son Clay Nicklas, wife Teresa and granddaughter Kaylie of San Marcos. His daughter, Amy, husband Charles Fenner and Granddaughters Landry and Laney Fenner live here in Van Zandt County. Paul and his wife have been married 31 years.

Currently, Paul is in the Bail Bond business in Van Zandt and surrounding counties. He has always had an interest in the judicial system by working and serving in it since first becoming a Licensed Peace Officer in 1976.

Paul is a committed Christian with firm conservative values. He constantly keeps abreast of the political leadership and happenings of our local, state and national governments. Passionate in his desire for conservative Christian values to be held high for anyone serving in the leadership of our community and country. He was a strong supporter of President Ronald Reagan and a continued supporter of the conservative Republican Party. He served as a delegate to the State Convention in 2000. For the past two years he has served in the local Republican Party of Van Zandt County. He and his wife live in Canton.
